ABOUT THE ROLE
This position plays a critical role in maintaining the safety of navigation in Australian waters. You will work closely with a team of experts to address emerging challenges posed by offshore oil and gas, renewable energy developments, and other offshore activities. A key focus will be strengthening the resilience and effectiveness of AMSA's marine Aid to Navigation (AtoN) network. You will engage with domestic and international stakeholders to align with global best practices and international maritime safety standards.
You will be responsible for:
• provide expert advice on complex maritime issues, including navigation, PNT systems, maritime infrastructure, and offshore operations.
• establishing strong relationships with industry, government, and international organisations to foster collaboration and knowledge sharing.
• keeping abreast of innovation and research in maritime technology and practices, exploring emerging trends and technologies to future-proof the organisation and industry.
• representing the organisation in national and international forums, shaping policy and regulatory frameworks to enhance maritime safety and efficiency.
• producing clear, concise, and impactful communications to a diverse range of internal and external stakeholders.
The key duties of the position include
SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE

To be successful in this position, you will have the following skills and experience:
• Holds a Master or Deck Officer Certificate of Competency, whether valid or not, or a relevant degree or experience.
• Demonstrated understanding of domestic and international policy and regulation particular to safety of navigation.
• Demonstrated experience in developing and implementing policy and regulation, ensuring compliance with national and international standards, and promoting innovation and sustainability in navigation safety.
• Demonstrated ability to communicate information clearly both verbally and especially in writing.
