How will I help?

In this 12-month fixed term or secondment opportunity as a Senior Manager, you will play a key role in supporting the Governance and Reporting team within the Cash & Transactional Banking Line (CTB) of Business (LoB). This role provides the business and the CTB LT with risk support for all elements of the operational risk management framework, including risk reporting, monitoring compliance with risk frameworks and analysis of risk data to provide insights to the business.

As a dedicated risk professional, you will play a crucial role in ensuring that our business operations and risk management practices are in line with the Group's frameworks, policies, risk strategy, regulatory obligations, and risk appetite.

Reporting to the Executive Manager, Governance and Reporting, your responsibilities will include:

  • Support the delivery of Group and divisional programs, including the Privacy Program
  • Lead all aspects of the annual refresh of the CTB Risk Appetite Statement and promote its use in business decisions
  • Conduct semi-annual Risk Management Framework Maturity assessments
  • Assist in LoB and divisional risk committee reporting
  • Prepare attestations for Managing Director support and approval
  • Perform annual Risk Culture self-assessments
  • Develop and be responsible for action plans to uplift risk culture and maturity
  • Implement the policy monitoring plan for CTB to ensure compliance.
  • Improve compliance awareness and understanding across CTB BCM

You’ll be set up for success in your transition to the role. With a team of 7 Sydney-based colleagues, you’ll collaborate in person in our Barangaroo office to re-group and engage with multiple stakeholders across a number of teams at any given time, including your Business & Control Monitoring colleagues, the product teams, Line 2 and the Division Chief Operating Office teams.

What do I need?

To excel as a Senior Manager at Westpac, you should bring extensive experience, ideally within the banking or financial services sector. We are looking for a seasoned professional with a robust background in risk and compliance advisory. While relevant industry qualifications in risk, compliance, or business-related fields are desirable, they are not essential. Your expertise and experience will be key in driving our commitment to excellence and regulatory adherence.

Further advantageous qualities and experience includes:
