The Opportunity

Are you passionate about keeping our roads safe and in top condition? We’re looking for a dedicated Maintenance Worker - Unsealed Roads to join our team. If you love working outdoors, enjoy hands-on tasks, and want to make a tangible difference in your community, this is the role for you. You'll play a key part in ensuring our road networks are maintained to the highest standards, directly contributing to the safety and well-being of local residents and visitors.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Maintenance & Construction: Execute maintenance and construction tasks in line with Council’s Road Management Plan and relevant programs.
  • Safety Compliance: Ensure all Occupational Health and Safety requirements are met and properly documented.
  • Equipment Operation: Drive and operate various plant and equipment, including trucks, front-end loaders, backhoes, and chainsaws.
  • Record Keeping: Maintain accurate diaries, work records, and time sheets for all activities.
  • Team Collaboration: Work cooperatively with other Council staff and assist with other teams as needed.

What We're Looking For

  • Experience: Previous experience in outdoor maintenance and construction, or a similar field.
  • Certifications: Traffic control certification, chainsaw certification (trim and crosscut), First Aid Level 2, and a Certificate of Competency for front-end loader/backhoe operation.
  • Licenses: Medium Rigid Driver’s License is essential; Heavy Rigid License is preferred.
  • Education: Certificate III in Civil Construction is preferred but not essential.
