About the role:

Downer is a leading provider of integrated facilities services, delivering high-quality operational and maintenance services to education and healthcare facilities across Australia and New Zealand. We are seeking dedicated and compassionate Orderlies to join our team and provide essential support at the Royal Adelaide Hospital.

This full-time role involves assisting with the safe movement of patients, equipment, and other critical tasks to ensure smooth and effective service delivery. You must have some flexibility across a 7-day roster and have full time working rights within Australia to be considered.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist with the safe transport of patients using various equipment (e.g., bed, wheelchair, trolley).
  • Support clinical staff in transferring patients and performing necessary tasks such as repositioning and turning.
  • Conduct safety checks on equipment before use to ensure all transportation is safe and compliant with hospital standards.
  • Handle mortuary-related tasks with dignity and respect, ensuring proper care for deceased patients.
  • Maintain cleanliness and assist with equipment repairs and janitorial services as required.
  • Adhere to strict safety standards and actively contribute to Zero Harm initiatives.

About you:

Experience and Personal Attributes:

  • Previous experience in a healthcare or hospital environment is desirable.
  • Demonstrated ability to work as part of a team and develop strong working relationships.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills with a compassionate approach to patient care.
  • Ability to follow instructions and maintain a high level of attention to detail.
  • Willingness to continuously build on knowledge and skills.
  • Ability to work safely and efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
  • Reliable, consistent, and well-presented with a positive attitude.
