This is a fixed term opportunity for 12 months and this role can be based anywhere within Essential Energy’s operational footprint.
About the role
The Lead Data Solution Architect will lead and mentor a cross functional team of data professionals, serving as the technical authority to support data and analytics initiatives on the Azure Datalake and Databricks platform. This role ensures that solutions adhere to architectural standards and deliver business value.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead, mentor, and coach a cross functional team of data professionals in designing technical solutions that meet business requirements and comply with architectural standards.
- Review proposed technical solutions and provide recommendations to ensure they are fit for purpose and strategically aligned.
- Define, champion, and govern consistent data modelling standards, principles, frameworks, and best practices.
- Collaborate with Enterprise Architecture to define policies, processes, guidelines, models, and technologies for data solutions.
- Lead project onboarding activities and provide ongoing assurance to ensure standards are applied and solutions comply with architecture.
- Assess and break down complex business problems into actionable components for Solution Architects.
- Ensure all data integration initiatives align with the overall enterprise data strategy and roadmap.
- Identify opportunities for re-use and standardization across projects and initiatives.
- Provide technical leadership, expertise, and advice across the data and analytics landscape.
- Develop design documents, architecture artifacts, support guides, and handover documentation.
- Promote respect, equity, diversity, and inclusion, adhering to the highest ethical standards.
About You
You are an experienced Solution Architect with a strong background in designing and delivering data and analytics solutions. You have extensive experience with machine learning models and techniques, and you excel at leading and mentoring junior data professionals. Your strong analytical abilities and excellent communication skills enable you to effectively convey technical concepts to business leaders. You are proficient in data modeling methodologies and standards, and you have expert knowledge of Microsoft Azure data platform technologies, including Databricks. Your technical leadership and problem-solving skills are top-notch, and you can assess risks and trade-offs of technical solutions.
- Extensive experience as a Solution Architect in designing and delivering data and analytics solutions.
- Experience with machine learning models and techniques.
- Proven ability to lead and mentor junior Data Architects.
- Strong analytical ability with the capability to communicate technical concepts to business leaders.
- Excellent written, verbal, and visual communication skills.
- Strong stakeholder engagement and collaboration skills.
- Expert knowledge of data architecture disciplines, principles, and best practices.
- Proficient in data modeling methodologies and standards.
- Subject matter expert in Microsoft Azure data platform technologies including Databricks.
- Strong technical leadership and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to understand complex business needs and translate them into technical requirements.
- Ability to assess risks and trade-offs of technical solutions.
Required Qualifications
· Degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or Engineering, or demonstrated capability through past employment experience and/or relevant qualifications
