Description:
DescriptionSenior Product Owner
- Permanent position
- Sydney, Hybrid
- Work in a fast-paced digital team to enhance the Westpac App & Online experience
The product owners in the Westpac App & Online team may not produce code or designs, but they play a critical role in contributing to the delivery of our initiatives and play a huge role in defining and shaping what we do and how we do it, in collaboration with our sponsors across business and technology teams.
Sometimes, the artefacts they create will be tangible, such as prioritised backlogs, annotated user stories, and documentation of decisions. Just as often, their work will be intangible—conversations carefully crafted, meetings well facilitated, logistics conquered, consensuses reached, difficult decisions worked out. The result is happy team members, software delivered on time, budget, with no surprises, and the greatest possible value achieved for our customers and business.
Key Responsibilities:
- Create/review user stories that provide detailed requirements for development and test teams
- Attend scrum meetings, planning sessions, retrospectives, and facilitate demos
- Find opportunities, develop, and implement changes to maximise digital adoption and advocacy by understanding underlying customer needs
- Facilitate understanding of stakeholder views on online banking to help ensure alignment of plans, budgets, and execution priorities
- Work with developers, business analysts, delivery managers, and architects to break down work, prioritise and plan requirements to demonstrate iterative and incremental value delivery
- Work with internal stakeholders to build a readiness pipeline of projects and plan delivery based on available team capacity
- Support workshops—including epic/feature estimation, prioritisation, iteration planning, and showcases
- Play an active role in coaching and influencing key stakeholders, business sponsors, and mentoring squads where needed
- Work closely with the Product Delivery Service Owner to improve visibility and transparency using agile practices at train and squad levels
- Ensure adherence to the standards and frameworks, take responsibility for status reporting, managing delivery risks and issues
- Ensure quality and appropriate testing of all digital changes in the squads
- Identify and raise opportunities for continuous improvement in team knowledge and performance
- Manage and track program-level execution and feature delivery, escalate impediments and risks. Contribute to tracking team-level vision and objective metrics and overall scorecard
- Manage and optimise the flow of value through the team by working closely with the digital front door team
