About the Role
Take the lead in optimizing bus operations as a Senior Transport Scheduler! Reporting to the Scheduling Manager, you will be responsible for managing, coordinating, and delivering scheduling outcomes for around 550 buses using the powerful Hastus scheduling software. This role offers exciting opportunities to shape the planning and design of new and revised public transport services and networks.
Key Responsibilities:
- Support the Scheduler Manager in delivering major schedule reviews, focusing on operational efficiency.
- Develop and deliver reliable, efficient timetables for various occasions, including special events, school vacations, and public holidays.
- Prepare, maintain, and monitor bus and crew schedules, ensuring smooth operations.
- Collaborate with Operations Managers to create base rosters that meet operational demands.
- Build Headway Managed & Demand Responsive Transport schedules and rosters.
- Ensure compliance with Fatigue Management Systems (FMS) and relevant fatigue legislation.
- Use performance data to identify areas for improvement and implement solutions, including Zero Emission Buses (ZEB).
- Continuously refine schedules to enhance passenger outcomes.
- Collaborate with senior managers on service reviews and operational requirements.
- Work with global teams on special projects, preparing timetables and rosters for new business opportunities.
- Share your expertise by delivering Hastus training to new cadets and assisting others in improving their skills.
- Take on additional duties as required.
Skills and Experience:
To thrive in this role, you’ll need:
- In-depth knowledge of bus operator industrial awards and Roads and Maritime Services shift regulations, especially regarding driver fatigue and its impact on scheduling.
- Advanced Hastus skills to create cost-effective schedules and rosters that meet operational needs and comply with relevant awards.
- At least 4 years of scheduling experience.
- Proven experience in executing major network service reviews.
- A keen eye for identifying network inefficiencies and improving outcomes.
- The initiative to work independently and as part of a team.
