About the role

We are currently recruiting a Senior Program/Project Manager to join our Strategy & Future Networks department. This role will be based within the Essential Energy footprint with the ability to work from home in a hybrid work environment.

Future Networks encompasses building a dynamic network that enables our customers the flexibility to maximise their generation and the ability to control their energy use as we embark on the energy transition. The Future Networks Senior Program/Project Manager is accountable for leading and supporting the development and delivery of a blend of strategic projects and programs spanning business process change and technology uplift to deliver on our Future Networks roadmap. The role is pivotal in ensuring project requirements are clearly defined through key stakeholder engagement and an appropriate delivery plan developed within specific time and cost parameters.

This role is preferred to be based within Essential Energy’s operational footprint throughout NSW.

Key responsibilities

The Senior Program/Project Manager is accountable for the strategic leadership and management of professional program and project delivery teams, both internal and external to Essential Energy and the performance management, mentoring, coaching and development of employees to achieve business goals and to prepare them for potential career advancement. Manage highly complex business process and technology-based changes on the Essential Energy Future Networks Roadmap. Manage all aspects of assigned projects and programs based on the agreed end to end delivery methodology and associated roles and responsibilities. Lead and foster continuous improvement through best practice project/program management and supporting systems, processes and procedures relevant to assigned projects or programs. Lead the development and the effective implementation of specific projects or programs while supporting ongoing improvements in safety, environmental and risk management performance across internal and external teams.

About You

Proven leader with demonstrated ability to successfully manage and deliver programs of work on time and within budget. Extensive experience managing complex technical change tasks, projects and/or programmes of work including within large enterprises, both in Corporate and Information Technology. Demonstrated ability in the coordination and management of multi-disciplinary groups of project/program professionals in a team environment. Professional experience in the development of business cases and papers and the recommendations that identify strategic and critical impacts to projects and programs. Extensive contract administration, negotiation and management experience to monitor and support contractor delivery performance and the development of strategies to address under-performance and compliance failures. Capable of taking a proactive approach to relationship building within and across project teams. Demonstrated experience in managing people and diverse specialist technical teams in a large Corporate environment.

Required Qualifications/Experience

  • Bachelor of Engineering/Project Management
  • Diploma in Project Management Practice or demonstrated capability through past employment experience and/or relevant qualifications with some form of Project Management certification (e.g. PMI PMP or PRINCE2)

Desirable

  • Contract Management/Construction Health and Safety qualifications
  • Auditing experience
  • Driver's License
