Access Your Supports (AYS) is dedicated to empowering individuals with disabilities to achieve their employment goals. We provide personalised support that focuses on building skills, exploring job opportunities, and preparing participants for the workforce. As part of our Employment Support Team, you’ll be making a real difference in people’s lives.

ABOUT THE ROLE

We are seeking an enthusiastic and compassionate Employment Support Mentor to join our team. In this role, you will support participants in working towards and achieving their employment-related goals. Working directly with the Employment Coordinators, you will assist with a wide range of tasks, including on-the-job training, work skills development, travel training, resume and cover letter writing, and more.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide one-on-one support to participants in various employment-related activities.
  • Assist participants with on-the-job training and building capacity around work skills.
  • Explore employment options and assist participants in preparing for work life.
  • Support participants with travel training, including navigating public transport.
  • Help participants with resume and cover letter writing and practicing for mock interviews.
  • Assist in exploring and securing volunteering opportunities as a pathway to employment.
  • Collaborate with the Employment Coordinator to develop and implement personalized support plans for each participant.

WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR

  • Previous relevant experience, preferably in supporting individuals with disabilities or in an employment services environment.
  • Valid Australian Drivers License.
  • Working with Children Check.
  • NDIS Workers Screening Check.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Passion for making a positive impact on the lives of people with disabilities.

In applying for this role, you will be subject to a National NDIS Worker Screen Check. From 1 February 2021 any staff member deemed to be working in a ‘risk-assessed role’ or at the request of management, must undergo a NDIS Worker Screening Check.
