About The Opportunity

As a clinical psychologist in the inpatient psychology department, you will be assisting in providing clinical psychological service across the acute mental health units across Campbelltown Hospital. The successful Clinical Psychologist will have the opportunity to work dynamically with consumers with complex mental health needs, including psychosis, trauma, drug and alcohol, and forensic issues. You will have the opportunity to provide 1:1 psychological intervention, run group programs, and behavioural management support.

You will work with an enthusiastic team of health professionals which includes nurses, psychiatric registrars, consultant psychiatrists, social worker, occupational therapists, and diversional therapists.

The Clinical/Forensic Psychologist will also receive support, peer consultation, and supervision with other psychologists working in the district.

Clinical Psychology and Forensic Psychology Registrars will be considered for the role. Jobsharing will be considered for the right applicant.

What You'll Be Doing

To deliver targeted psychological and psychosocial assessment for diagnosis, interventions and consultation in order to address the needs of consumers who are living with complex mental health problems and disorders.

The successful applicant will also participate in the evaluation of clinical outcomes of services and assists in the development and provision of education and training programs. Additionally, the successful applicant supervises Psychologists and other disciplines working within the LHD, according to organisational needs and if appropriate to the psychologists’ stage of professional development.

How To Apply

  • Full registration with the Psychology Board of Australia with Endorsement in Clinical or Forensic Psychology (or eligibility to progress to same), along with a minimum two year Full Time equivalent APAC accredited postgraduate Clinical Psychology or Forensic Psychology qualification.
  • Demonstrated experience in psychosocial and psychometric assessment including cognitive assessment and assessment of psychopathology
  • Demonstrated experience in a wide range of evidence-based psychological treatments for people experiencing acute/complex mental health issues, delivered on an individual and/or group basis.
  • Demonstrated experience working independently in the provision of patient/consumer-focused care
  • Demonstrated knowledge of the quality improvement process for service development, implementation and evaluation.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and demonstrated ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary team to accomplish service goals and improved patient and/or consumer care and outcomes.
  • Demonstrated high level verbal and written communication skills with the ability to adapt communication style to suit the target audience.
  • Applicants must possess an Australian C-Class driver's license (including P1 or P2). Those who hold a C class license (P1 or P2 included) from a state other than NSW must obtain a NSW C class (P1 or P2 included) license within three months of appointment. Learner's licenses are not permitted.
