About the role

We’re seeking a Senior ITS Operations Engineer to help change how we travel.

The Senior ITS Operations Engineer supports the Leads ITS Operations Engineer through tasking, priority management and day-to-day supervision of the ITS Operations team, including mentoring, on the job training and direct technical support when required.

The Senior ITS Operations Engineer is part of a highly motivated and specialised technical team, responsible for the monitoring, support, maintenance and minor upgrade of NSW Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS), including, but not limited to, Operations Management and Control Systems (OMCS), Plant Management and Control Systems (PMCS), Electronic Toll Collection (ETC) Roadside Systems and Traffic Management Systems and supporting Data, CCTV and Telecommunications Networks.

These systems are a crucial link in the generation of revenue, management and control of operational risk, ensuring the smooth flow of traffic and the maintenance of Transurban’s reputation as a world class operator of tollways.

Other responsibilities include project management and supervision of changes and upgrades to asset ITS. You’ll be a key member of a highly motivated, dynamic 24x7 Intelligent Transport Systems (ITS) Operations Support team, ensuring the smooth and safe flow of traffic over Sydney’s traffic corridors.

Day-to-day, you will:

• Provide guidance and direction to sub-contractors and other teams, to resolve and escalate system faults, conduct maintenance and restoration works. You will also.
• Administer and maintain a variety of specialised equipment including Virtual Environments and Audio Communication Systems, PLC’s, Traffic Monitoring and Control Systems, CCTV and Network Equipment.
• Perform after hours on-call duties on a rostered basis as agreed with the Lead ITS Operations Engineer
• Act as an escalation point and provide 1st and 2nd level support to our Traffic Control and Operations Centres and ITS Operations Engineers– you’ll maintain applications, client operation systems, desktop equipment, server equipment, specialised systems and networked systems.
• Ensure our ITS Systems are performing to their availability and reliability targets – you’ll monitor them closely and conduct maintenance and system upgrades to keep them operating at their best.

This role will suit someone with a curious mind and transferrable skills and experiences, including:

• Experience in the support and maintenance of ITS related technology platforms and services (or a comparable industry)
• SCADA/Industrial Control/Critical Safety System/Operational Technology experience
• Previous experience working in a similar Senior Level Electrical, Electronic or IT system support role maintaining critical systems in a 24/7 environment.
• TAFE, or equivalent trade qualification, in Systems, Electrical, Electronic, or an Engineering degree in Systems / Electrical / Electronic Engineering – so you know your stuff.
• Highly analytical and incisive, you’ll spot issues and use your own ingenuity – and that of your team to troubleshoot.
• A natural people person and avid problem solver you love communicating and collaborating to solve problems and achieve goals.
• You’re organised, efficient and decisive in in prioritising the tasks that count, pressure doesn’t faze you.
• You have a license to drive – you love everything about our roads after all.
