The Opportunity
This full-time position offers an opportunity for an Associate Lawyer with a background in construction and engineering disputes to manage complex matters and work closely with senior practitioners.
Your role will be central to dispute resolution, risk management, and contract advisory work, contributing to the firm’s growth through client engagement and thought leadership.
Key Responsibilities
- Dispute Resolution & Litigation – Manage litigation, arbitration, adjudication, and expert determination processes.
- Security of Payment – Advise on Security of Payment claims and responses, including adjudication applications.
- Claims Management – Handle disputes related to delays, defects, variations, cost escalations, and breaches.
- Risk & Contract Advisory – Provide legal guidance on contract administration, risk mitigation, and compliance.
- Business Development & Client Engagement:
- Support senior lawyers in client relationship management and business development initiatives.
- Assist with marketing and networking activities, including participation in industry events.
- Contribute to firm publications and legal thought leadership.
- Strategic Case Management – Develop legal strategies, prepare legal submissions, and maintain case oversight.
- Billing & Matter Administration – Support billing processes, financial tracking, and budgetary targets.
Skills & Experience
- Minimum 2 years PQE in construction and engineering law.
- Dual qualification in law and engineering (preferred) or finance.
- Experience with litigation, adjudication, and alternative dispute resolution.
- Strong understanding of Security of Payment legislation and construction contract frameworks.
- Excellent legal drafting, research, and analytical skills.
- Proficiency in legal software and practice management tools.
