This role is a Parental Leave Cover Role for an 8-month period. How will I help? As a Lawyer in the Technology, Enterprise & Digital (TED) Legal team, you will be directly involved in a broad range of matters across the Westpac Group, including significant commercial and technology procurement and outsourcing arrangements, intellectual property, data, privacy and emerging technologies.

Some of the key accountabilities are:

  • Reviewing, drafting, and leading negotiations on commercial and technology contracts and transactions
  • Collaborating with internal and external stakeholders to support our legal and risk strategy, including Westpac Group’s compliance with laws and internal policies in a proactive manner
  • Briefing stakeholders on legal issues, status of negotiations and identifying matters for escalation

What do I need?

We are seeking Lawyers with 3-4 years’ PQE who have the following skills & experience:

  • Experience reviewing, drafting, and negotiating complex commercial and technology or large services contracts (particularly on the customer side)
  • Experience gained in a large or medium corporate or private practice environment
  • Solutions-focused with strong stakeholder management and negotiation skills
  • Experience with regulatory requirements for contracting and outsourcing (desirable)
  • Experience with Australian privacy law, data security regulation and intellectual property (desirable)
