  • Commencement Salary: $112,892 per annum (plus 17% superannuation)

    About the Role

    The Lecturer is responsible for the development, delivery, and coordination of courses within undergraduate and postgraduate programs in Urban and Regional Planning. The role will make a significant research contribution in related areas.

    The position will contribute independently and as part of a team to support the Unit’s teaching and research outcomes and to carry out activities to maintain and develop scholarly, research and/or professional activities.

    Core Responsibilities

  • Develop, coordinate, and deliver courses in a range of areas including the design and delivery of courses for on campus and online modalities
Responsible for: Maintaining the quality of the courses through course review and development (i.e. course materials and teaching methods) to meet industry / organisational needs, educational requirements, and quality standards Applying research and scholarship to the development of courses including investigating and developing innovative teaching methods and the initiation and development of high quality materials to support student learning and engagement Coordinating the timely delivery of courses including preparing and delivering lectures, seminars, workshops, and tutorials, facilitating online learning, assessment development and marking Providing academic counselling and advice to students in a professional and timely manner Working with Program Directors and administrative staff to ensure the smooth administrative operation of the courses Provide academic leadership to support the Unit’s teaching and learning strategy in ways that will enhance the student experience and ensure UniSA graduates are the preferred employees of industry Work collaboratively and reciprocally with staff across the University and relevant partner organisations to ensure that courses contain quality content and represent contemporary practice and theory

Essential Skills and Experience

PhD qualification together with associated experience in research and teaching in a relevant discipline area Demonstrated high quality teaching outcomes with evidence of a strong commitment to continuous improvement of teaching practice and learning outcomes, in on-campus and online settings Demonstrated commitment to establishing a program of research that demonstrates growing publication record, and experience in the preparation of research grant applications and success in attracting research income commensurate with opportunity in the discipline Experience in the supervision of higher degree research candidates Demonstrated high standard of interpersonal ability, written and oral communication skills and the ability to work as a member of a diverse team
