Our client, based in North West Sydney, is looking for an experienced Plant Mechanic to join their team. Initially on a Casual basis, they are looking to recruit directly/permanently following what is essentially a 3 month trial period.
This is a good opportunity to build a career as a Plant Mechanic with a government entity. After a successful 3 month trial period, a permanent placement will come with a great salary package in addition to resources available for additional (but relevant) Tickets, Qualifications and direct progression routes to Senior Management if this is your aim!
Description
- Perform routine servicing, repairs, and maintenance on a variety of vehicles and equipment, including RSF, trucks, cars, boats, chainsaws, and other plant machinery.
- Diagnose mechanical issues, troubleshoot problems, and implement effective solutions in a timely manner.
- Conduct preventative maintenance to ensure optimal performance and compliance with safety and regulatory standards.
- Maintain accurate records of maintenance and repairs.
- Work efficiently and effectively to minimize downtime of plant and vehicles.
- Assist with the setup, operation, and maintenance of plant equipment for various council projects.
- Collaborate with other team members and departments to ensure smooth operations and high levels of service delivery.
- Uphold safety standards and ensure compliance with all relevant industry regulations.
- Continuously develop your knowledge and skills related to plant machinery and mechanical maintenance.
- Show initiative to grow within the role, with an aspiration to progress to a 2nd-in-command position in the future.
Profile
- Experience as a plant mechanic , diesel mechanic , or car mechanic (with a strong intention to transition to plant mechanics).
- HR/MR driver's license (or the ability to obtain one).
- Solid experience in servicing and maintaining a range of vehicles and equipment, including trucks, chainsaws, boats, and plant machinery.
- Strong mechanical and diagnostic skills with the ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Demonstrated commitment to developing a long-term career in plant mechanics and an ambition to assume leadership responsibilities in the future.
- Ability to manage time efficiently and prioritise tasks effectively.
- A strong safety focus and a commitment to adhering to workplace health and safety procedures.
- Excellent communication skills and a proactive, can-do attitude.
