Salary: Level 3, $137,428 - $150,385 per annum (pro-rata) (SEA GA 2023)

This is a permanent part-time (0.5FTE) position commencing Term 2, 2025

Instrumental Music School Services (IMSS) enhances student learning in music through the provision of instrumental music tuition in schools and school clusters across WA. IMSS provides quality teaching, diverse and stimulating performance and enrichment opportunities, supporting every instrumental music student to realise their full potential.

Instrumental Music School Services (IMSS) is seeking to appoint a dedicated and enthusiastic Program Coordinator – Brass.

The successful applicant will ideally be a motivated, highly skilled, and innovative educator to join the Senior Leadership Team. In collaboration with the principal and members of the executive team they provide educational leadership in the school and the community by developing and promoting the school vision.

Central to this position will be the ability to provide educational leadership guided by the IMSS Pedagogical Framework and School Plan. This includes the quality of Brass teaching, administrative supervision, and performance development of staff. You will also liaise with the Executive and allied professional on the management of resources for Brass instruction, including suitable staff deployment and instrument management.

The successful applicant should ideally use effective change strategies to lead the school community to accept and develop opportunities for improved performance in the relevant area of responsibility. A key part of this role is participation in decision making processes, and actively promoting the educational policies and strategies of the Department of Education and the IMSS to instrumental music teachers, school-based administrators, staff and the general community.

The Program Coordinator models a culture of self-reflection and improvement providing coaching and mentoring as they promote professional growth and leadership capabilities within teams and in others. They should possess excellent organization, communication and public relation skills that allow them to build and maintain collaborative and respectful partnerships across our school community. We value creative thinking that leads to better solutions and outcomes for our students.

The successful applicant will ideally bring to the role a strong sense of passion and motivation in music education through the Brass Learning Area. A high level of teaching competence in the Arts, Music area of Brass teaching and an understanding of the stylistic requirements of the context will be well regarded. A knowledge of specific instrumental pedagogy including music literacy, and general curriculum trends in music education is also advantageous.

Some regional travel may be required for this role. This will be negotiated with the IMSS executive team.
