About the Role
The primary purpose of the Electrical Specialist role is to provide governance for the design, supply and installation of LV and HV mobile, relocatable and transportable electrical equipment owned and operated by WAIO including the feed power system within WAIO mining and processing facilities.
In this role you will prioritise Electrical compliance to all relevant ACTs, Regulations and Codes of practice as well as internal and external standards. Focusing on Safety, Reliability, Simplicity and Performance you will ensure our maintenance, operational, technology and commercial teams are given the best equipment and technical support available.
This is a full-time role based in Perth office working Monday to Friday with some site travel required, offering flexibility.
Reporting to Superintendent GTS Mobile, your key responsibilities includes:
- Provide Electrical guidance and technical support to the relevant stakeholders within WAIO.
- Review and approve Mobile Engineering Electrical Standards, Specifications (review & development), Drawings and Procedures applicable to Mobile Electrical Equipment
- Support the identification, evaluation & implementation of Zero emission Technology Solutions applicable to Mobile Assets
- Provide technical Support on Arc Flash study and ratings applicable to mobile assets
- Evaluate changes to Electrical System modifications of governed mobile equipment
- Develop and coordinate Electrical technical audits to ensure the mobile auxiliary assets are compliant to WA legislations & BHP design criteria
- Create and distribute Electrical Safety and Improvements alerts to the WAIO stakeholders
- Work directly with major OEM groups to influence equipment performance and design
About You
You will have an Electrical qualification - Tertiary or Trade is suitable. Experience in the field of mobile equipment highly desirable.
Your interpersonal skills will foster collaborative working relationships across various teams. In addition to demonstrated ability to consolidate and analyse information, you will have the skills and knowledge to provide critical thinking and a solution-focused attitude.

You will have below Skills and Experience:
- An overriding commitment to health, safety and environmental responsibility
- Working knowledge of various Australian Standards, WA Regulations & relevant codes of practice
- Basic knowledge of control systems (SCADA)
- Ensure conformance with the BHP Charter, the BHP Group Level Documents, Code of Conduct, and relevant statutory obligations, relevant Australian Standards & WHSL requirements
- Familiarity with BHP processes and systems BHP systems including but not limited to SAP, Fiori, SPO, MOC, FLEX system, etc
- Excellent stakeholder engagement and communication skills
- Ability to work on multiple simultaneous tasks autonomously.
- Proven work experience in the heavy or resource industry (preferred)
