About the position
Due to continued growth in our engineering and projects team, we are searching for a Principal Electrical Engineer. We offer you the opportunity to diversify your skills and experience by working across various sites and projects. You will work as a key part of an integrated team with other like-minded individuals who are focused on becoming the best mining professionals in the industry. You will be challenged with a range of complex projects that require unique solutions that add value to our clients’ operations.
This role is responsible for providing advice as the trusted authority of electrical engineering to our clients and will also be responsible for mentoring and developing engineers within the Electrical Engineering team. While leading the team, your focus will be to improve the efficiency and quality of engineering output. Your existing network will enable you to build strong solution-based working relationships with our clients and have business development at the forefront of your interactions.
You will support complex projects with optimal solutions by assisting in the preparation of project proposals, reviewing conceptual designs, estimates and work closely with and provide guidance to engineers.
If you have experience performing Hazardous Area assessments & classifications, arc flash studies, earthing systems design/analysis, lighting protection, HV and LV installations – we want to hear from you!
This role can be based from our Newcastle or Brisbane office, you will also have the opportunity to travel at times to our clients' operations whilst still maintaining a lifestyle in a major city with a coastal lifestyle. There are no rotating rosters or weekend work required so we offer the best of both worlds.
About You
Key skills and experience:
- A Degree qualification in Electrical Engineering
- 10 years' minimum related experience in the mining/resources industry (open cut, underground coal or metalliferous)
- Registered with Engineers Australia
- Statutory ticket of competency for electrical engineering manager or statutory electrical engineer
- Project management experience where you have led various projects
- Experience with or an understanding of asset management processes
- The ability to understand mining practices beyond your area of expertise that enables you to effectively communicate with a range of stakeholders connected to a project
