About the Opportunity

This is an opportunity for you to apply your studies in an environment in which you will be receiving comprehensive support, professional development opportunities and a structured learning plan to guide you as you commence your career.

We are seeking a passionate and dedicated individual for the Graduate Lived Experience Support Worker. This role is specifically designed for individuals who have lived and living experience of mental health challenges, substance use, addiction, and/or suicidality. Whether your experience comes from personal journey or from supporting someone close to you, this role provides an opportunity to channel that experience into meaningful support for others within our community.

Throughout the program, you will have the opportunity to develop your skills to:

  • Provide peer support to consumers navigating mental health, substance use, addiction, and/or suicidality challenges.
  • Empower consumers in their recovery journey by utilising lived experience, with a focus on the Intentional Peer Support framework.
  • Uphold consumer perspective values and to foster recovery-oriented, strength-based relationships

This is a part-time, four-day-a-week position where your shifts and rosters are flexible and open for consultation to best suit your needs.

By the end of the program, you will have honed the essential skills to excel in and make a meaningful impact within the rewarding Mental Health sector.

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • Certificate IV in Mental Health Peer Work.
    Applications will also be considered for perspective candidates that have completed the theory components for the Certificate IV in Mental Health Peer Work but are yet to complete the placement hours.
  • Lived/Living experience or a personal experience of supporting someone with mental health challenges, substance use and or addiction or suicidality.
  • Willingness to intentionally and purposefully use this experience to support others.
  • 100 points of identification
  • Right to Work within Australia
  • Satisfactory National Police Records Check, NDIS Worker Screening Check and Working with Children Check
  • NDIS Worker Orientation Module Certificate
