Job Title: User Researchers
This role is a full-time opportunity to join the Local Peoples team permanently , with your first project supporting the Department of Health and Aged Care’s Human-Centred Design (HCD) team . Local Peoples is a preferred partner for the Australian Federal Governments Department of Health and Aged Care’s Human Centred Design (HCD) Centre of Excellence (CoE). Beyond this project, you would be contributing to impactful co-design projects that improve services, policies, and products for communities across Australia.
About the first project:
The project aims to support the transition and implementation of the New Aged Care Act (NACA) by conducting key user research initiatives . The research will ensure that the Act’s implementation is user-centred, aligning with the needs of stakeholders and end-users researching across systems, services and policy.
Key Responsibilities:

Manage user research scoping, planning, and preparations, including developing research plans and discussion guides.

Conduct desktop or secondary research to inform project insights.

Oversee the research participant recruitment process, engaging with businesses and research panels.

Conduct and facilitate user research interviews.

Analyze and synthesize research data into actionable insights and findings.

Develop and manage user research reports, artefacts, and resources.

Communicate research insights effectively to various stakeholder groups using storytelling techniques.

Plan and coordinate stakeholder workshops and user research sessions.

Foster productive working relationships with internal and external stakeholders.

Support research operations activities and broader program objectives.

Coordinate and provide support for program activities.
Skills & Experience:

Proven experience (minimum 3 years) in Human-Centred Design (HCD) with a strong focus on User Research.

Ability to work across multiple project types, including communication, research, change, and strategy.

Strong adaptability in fast-paced, evolving environments.

Excellent stakeholder management, facilitation, and interpersonal communication skills.

Proactive problem-solving mindset with a self-starter attitude.

Knowledge of HCD principles and methodologies.

Experience working in a multidisciplinary team (MDT).

Basic service design skills, such as journey mapping.

Proficiency in tools like Miro, Figma, and Dovetail.

Ability to contribute to program documentation, including reports, presentations, and talking points.

Residency & Clearance:
- Must be an Australian citizen
- Hold a current Baseline Clearance or be able to obtain one
