Full Time - Occupational Health and Safety CoordinatorOn behalf of Colombian’s Machine, we have been supplying a comprehensive range of earthmoving, construction plant, demolition, asbestos removal and haulage equipment to companies, councils, and individual customers across the Sydney region for years. We supply various civil construction, building, plumbing, electrical and landscaping industries, Additionally, Colombian’s Machine is exporting machinery to South America.
Due to continue growth our client is currently seeking a passionate and qualified Full-Time Occupational Health and Safety Coordinator .
The Occupational Health and Safety Coordinator for our company is responsible for overseeing and managing the safety and health aspects of our operations. The role involves implementing safety policies, conducting risk assessments, and ensuring compliance with health and safety regulations, with a specific focus on safe operation.
Position Responsibilities and Tasks:
Developing, implementing, and reviewing environmental health management plans and occupational health and safety plans.
- Ensure that all safety protocols are adhered to by employees and clients using hired machinery.
- Conduct detailed risk assessments for all equipment and excavation projects to identify potential hazards.
- Implement effective controls to mitigate risks associated with machinery operation, excavation, and related activities.
- Developing, implementing, and monitoring programs minimising workplace and environmental pollution involving chemical and physical hazards.
- Inspecting and auditing workplaces, processes, plant, and chemical and physical hazards for legislative compliance.
- Develop and deliver tailored training programs on the safe operation of hire equipment and safe excavation, demolition and civil works practices.
- Ensure that all employees and clients receive appropriate training and understand safety protocols.
- Recording and investigating injuries and equipment damage, and reporting safety performance.
- Coordinating the return of injured workers into the workplace.
- Conduct regular safety audits and site inspections for both equipment hire facilities and excavation, demolition, and civil works sites.
- Identify non-compliance and unsafe conditions and oversee corrective actions.
- Stay up to date with current health and safety regulations specific to equipment hire and excavation, demolition, and civil works.
- Ensure the availability and proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE) for all employees and clients.
- Regularly inspect equipment and PPE for compliance and safety standards.
- Identify and implement best practices for continuous improvement in health and safety processes.
- Implement a comprehensive management system based on international standards, local regulations, and customer requirements.
- Implement a comprehensive management system for Colombians Machine, including the main office, branches, and projects.
- Attend audits of certifying entities and customers.
To ensure that you are successful in this role you will possess/demonstrate:
- Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Health, or a related field.
- At least 3 years proven experience in the field
- Strong understanding of safety regulations and standards applicable to construction sites.
- Excellent communication skills and ability to engage effectively with stakeholders at all levels.
- White Card
- High-risk work experience (work at heights, confined spaces, etc)
- Preferably Spanish and English speakers
- Ability to work independently, prioritize tasks, and meet deadlines.
- Availability to visit different job sites local or national
- Implementation experience in ISO 9001, 14000, and 45000 standards
- Excellent time management and organizational skills are a must.
Job Type: Full Time
Salary Offered : The role offers a remuneration package ranging from $95.000 – $115.000 p.a. plus superannuation for a 38-hour work week.
