Your EmployerOur client, a well-established agribusiness operating large cattle stations in the Northern Territory, is seeking experienced diesel motor mechanics and small engine mechanics to join their maintenance team. These full-time roles are based at Tennant Creek and Top Springs, NT, ensuring the continuous operation and servicing of plant, equipment, and machinery critical to station activities.
Your Role
As a diesel motor mechanic or small engine mechanic, you will be responsible for carrying out preventative and unplanned maintenance, diagnosing and troubleshooting mechanical issues, and ensuring that all machinery, vehicles, and equipment remain in optimal working condition.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform scheduled servicing, repairs, and maintenance on station vehicles, heavy plant equipment, and small engines.
- Troubleshoot mechanical issues and conduct ad-hoc repairs on vehicles.
- Create and execute preventative maintenance schedules to minimize downtime.
- Order necessary parts and equipment to ensure seamless maintenance operations.
- Conduct ongoing testing and diagnostics to assess the effectiveness of repairs.
- Work both independently and as part of a team to ensure all mechanical operations support station activities.
- Maintain compliance with workplace health and safety policies and industry best practices.
- Trade-qualified diesel motor mechanic or small engine mechanic (or equivalent).
- Minimum three years of experience in a similar role, preferably in a rural or agricultural setting.
- Strong knowledge of diesel engines, small motors, and hydraulic systems.
- Ability to diagnose and repair water pumps, bores, and station machinery.
- Experience with ordering and managing spare parts inventory.
- Ability to conduct preventative maintenance planning.
- Ability to work autonomously and as part of a team.
- Strong problem-solving skills and a practical approach to repairs.
- Good organizational skills and the ability to prioritize workload efficiently.
- Annual salary of $74,000 – $84,000 plus overtime and superannuation.
- Full-time, stable employment in a remote NT cattle station environment.
