The Employer:Wallaloo Park is a family-owned and managed business that currently employs three full-time staff, located south of Marnoo in the Wimmera district of Victoria. The company operates a 3500-ha mixed enterprise farming system over two leading enterprises—a 3,000-head Stud Merino flock and a 2,000-ha dryland cropping operation based on 450mm of annual rainfall. The livestock and cropping operations are driven by results backed by continual investment in new ideas and technology.
The Merino stud, founded in 1978, currently runs 3000 ewes and utilises the latest technology to enhance genetic gain through ASBVs, DNA, and stringent visual classing. It is at the forefront of the Poll Merino industry and a renowned leader of innovation, depth, and service to the industry, impacting both stud and commercial growers across Australia and abroad.
The Role
Wallaloo Park seeks a hands-on and enthusiastic Livestock Operations Manager with a strong passion for intensive sheep breeding. In this role, the manager will implement innovative practices, use technology, and analyse data to actively track and enhance the operation’s performance. Collaboration with the owner and the entire team is essential for the success of the sheep entity.
With impressive scanning and weaning rates already established, supported by elite genetics, quality pastures, and effective supplementary feeding, the challenge will be to lead on-the-ground improvements while maintaining the trajectory of success. Direct involvement in daily operations will be vital for driving growth and excellence in the livestock management role.
The Ideal Candidate
As the livestock operations Manager, you will be a natural leader who can work harmoniously within a dynamic team. You will have a passion for agriculture, particularly sheep, and previous farming experience. You will be required to work in all business areas physically and collaborate with all employees involved. You will also be required to be actively involved in planning and budgeting across the livestock operations.
To be considered for this position, the successful applicant will ideally possess the following:
- At least six years of sheep-focused livestock operation/management experience.
- Demonstrated ability to organise and execute day-to-day operations.
- Desire to grow within the role and develop skills.
- Tidy in self-presentation and farm presentation.
- Sound basis of computer knowledge & documentation.
- Delegate & prioritise tasks and staff.
- Good communicator.
The Offer

This role is located close to Marnoo and has a range of school buses that travel to the townships of St Arnaud, Donald, and Stawell.
