We are seeking an innovative physiotherapist to provide supports to students and schools using a combination of virtual service from our Brisbane telepractice hub at Coorparoo and through in-person visits to schools, including rural and remote throughout Queensland.

Based in a multi-disciplinary team which is experienced in successfully working with schools to provide timely virtual support and in-person visits, you will advance your professional and clinical skills and develop relationships with schools across Queensland.

About the Department of Education

The Department employs over 150 physiotherapists to support students with disability to be successful in all aspects of their school experience. We use our knowledge and skills to enable students to be healthy and engaged in all school activities. From positioning in class or moving about the school, to school swimming or going on camp, our physiotherapists are key members of a student's education team.

Physiotherapy services are delivered through a variety of models, including professional development for teaching staff and families or individual and group student support.

Your Role

  • Use virtual platforms to deliver safe and effective telepractice supports to students and teachers in a designated service location.
  • Travel to regional areas as needed to provide in-person support.
  • Collaborate with external providers and families to ensure co-ordinated services.

Responsibilities

  • Develop your paediatric skills across a range of settings within a variety of teams.
  • Identify, assess and implement physiotherapy programs and provide services for students with a broad range of disability.
  • Contribute to multi-disciplinary school-based teams using clinical reasoning, problem-solving and communication skills.
  • Participate in specialised projects and research activities within the statewide physiotherapy team and in consultation with your professional supervisor.
  • Develop skills for supervision of university physiotherapy students with support from your professional supervisor.

About You
To succeed in this role, you will need to:

  • have, or be able to rapidly acquire, the ability to deliver physiotherapy services through telepractice
  • rapidly develop professional relationships across a range of teams
  • effectively engage online with stakeholders
  • have excellent spoken and written communication skills
  • understand or be willing to learn about how physiotherapy services can be effectively provided through flexible service delivery - online, in-person or through a hybrid model
  • adapt to change with a solutions-focussed approach
  • have strong clinical decision-making and reflective skills
  • effectively share information with stakeholders using a range of media
  • take responsibility in supporting the development and evaluation of service programs.
