About the role:
As the Purchasing and Inventory Officer, you will be responsible for procuring raw materials and supplies to support production needs. This role requires proactive supplier engagement, focusing on addressing purchasing and product-related issues while ensuring timely deliveries.
A key part of your responsibilities will be conducting MRP (Material Requirements Planning) checks to ensure that purchasing activities are aligned with production schedules. In addition, you will manage inventory levels, optimize costs, and foster strong relationships with suppliers to enhance overall production efficiency and success.
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform MRP checks to assess raw material needs and make timely purchasing decisions.
- Place and manage raw material purchase orders, ensuring on-time deliveries to meet production schedules.
- Monitor inventory levels to ensure stock availability aligns with both production and sales demands.
- Lead cost-saving initiatives by negotiating competitive pricing and favorable payment terms while upholding quality standards.
- Work closely with suppliers to stay informed about market trends, anticipate price fluctuations, and adjust procurement strategies accordingly.
- Coordinate with external suppliers to update supply schedules, track delivery timelines, and address any urgent queries.
- Provide sourcing and procurement assistance to other departments as needed.
- Ensure material availability aligns with production requirements, preventing overstocking or shortages.
- Support the supplier selection process, including managing RFQ (Request for Quotation) and RFP (Request for Proposal) processes and assisting with contract negotiations.
- Maintain vendor registrations, file relevant documentation, and generate reports in compliance with Procurement Policy and Procedures.
- Demonstrated experience in a similar role, together with solid understanding and experience in procurement and supplier relationship management, MRP checking, forecasting, and raw material planning for manufacturing (expect minimum of 3 years)
- Ability to recognize priorities, identify critical issues and take immediate action in time-sensitive situations.
- Working knowledge and understanding of manufacturing systems & processes and the principles of production planning
- Attention to detail and accuracy
- Strong English language communication skill (written and oral).
- Advanced Microsoft Excel Skills
- Bilingual: in mandarin ideally as some of their suppliers are mandarin speaking but not essential
- Tertiary Qualification in supply chain, procurement, or a related field (preferred).
