About the Victorian School Building Authority
The Victorian School Building Authority (VSBA) is part of the Department of Education. Established in 2016, it oversees Victoria's largest school building program since the state introduced free public education in the 1870s.
The VSBA upgrades and expands existing schools and plans, designs and builds new schools to meet enrolment demand. We also support schools to maintain their buildings and grounds by offering expert advice and coordinating maintenance programs and grants.
With Victoria recently introducing two years of funded kindergarten, the VSBA is also working with the early childhood sector on a massive kindergarten construction program.
About the Division
Asset Management Division
The Asset Management Division is responsible for setting VSBA's strategic asset direction, developing and implementing programs that address accessibility, inclusion and accommodation initiatives, and building school capability and capacity to manage assets.
The Maintenance Delivery Branch oversees maintenance projects, encompassing planned maintenance, as well as the upkeep of hydraulic fire safety systems and shelter-in-place facilities and other programs. Additionally, it ensures that secondary school campuses are equipped with suitable facilities to accommodate mental health practitioners, aligning with the government's commitment for this program.
About the Role
This is a VPS6.1 role with a salary range of $134,593 - $157,355
Fixed Term is 2 years not beyond the 30/06/2027
The role sits within the Maintenance Delivery Branch. This branch is responsible for oversight and delivery of projects within the planned maintenance program (PMP) and including hydraulic fire services system (HFSS) upgrades, DDA ramp upgrades, shelter in place projects, asbestos removal, high priority maintenance works and other asset management functions. Leading a dedicated team, this position provides technical support and advice, fosters positive relationships with key stakeholders to ensure effective communication and collaboration throughout the project lifecycle, adeptly navigating complex issues and presenting viable solutions. The role provides invaluable guidance to schools on the delivery of projects within the planned maintenance program. Works with the management team to develop processes and procedures, leveraging extensive business analysis to identify opportunities for continuous improvement and ensure effective project delivery outcomes.
The key responsibilities of this role are to:
* building positive relationships with key stakeholders to facilitate and communicate the successful delivery of projects for VSBA operational programs.
* communicating complex issues, options, and solutions
* providing advice to schools on maintenance delivery projects
* leading the development of processes and procedures for delivery teams
* undertake business analysis and identify opportunities for improvement in the delivery of the planned maintenance program
* establish processes to monitor and analyse program-wide project data
* provide branch input to corporate asset management improvement and assurance measures

The candidate must have experience in:
* leading a team effectively, ensuring they deliver on works and programs

* managing the delivery of programs, overseeing project milestones, and ensuring projects are delivered on time, within scope, and within budget
* monitoring and analyzing program-wide project data
* aligning operational programs with broader strategic goals and initiatives of the organization.
* Technical skills in building and construction works
Desirable Qualifications and Experience
3-5 years of progressive experience in delivering building and construction projects and leading a technical delivery team. Essential: a relevant advanced degree in fields such as Project Management, Engineering, Architecture, Construction Management, or a related field. How to Apply:
