About the HE04 Role (Facilities Support Officer)

Under general direction, the Facilities Support Officer will be an integral part of the Facility Team, delivering accurate, efficient, and timely support for facilities, accommodation, and contractors to the Rural and Remote Health (RRH) leadership team, as well as staff and students in Alice Springs or Darwin. The role will serve as the first point of contact for visiting staff, students, contractors, and the public at the Alice Springs or Darwin campuses, while also providing hands-on facility assistance and support to the Facilities Manager, local staff, and students as needed.

A Northern Territory Driver’s Licence is a requirement for this position.

About You

To succeed in this role, you will demonstrate:

Completion of a Diploma or certificate with relevant work experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Strong ability to prioritise tasks, meet deadlines, and use initiative effectively. Commitment to providing support to staff and students with sound judgment and problem-solving abilities. Effective verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to produce quality documents and reports. Ability to build positive working relationships with internal and external stakeholders, including diverse community and health professionals.

About the HE05 Role (Facilities Officer)

As a Facilities Officer, you’ll play a key role in delivering exceptional customer service to students, staff, and stakeholders, ensuring a welcoming and vibrant campus atmosphere. You will assist with the maintenance and facility operations of rural campuses and student accommodation in your region, providing support with tasks like Work, Health and Safety (WHS) activities, responding to student emails about maintenance items, and conducting inspections and changeovers. You’ll also manage inventory, purchase cleaning supplies, and coordinate maintenance and bookings for fleet vehicles.

In addition, you’ll assist with contractor management, coordinating contractors for scheduled building maintenance, repairs, and infrastructure tasks. You’ll also contribute to the preparation and renewal of leases for student accommodations, all while aligning with the University’s contractor management procedures to ensure smooth and efficient operations across Northern Territory facilities.

A Northern Territory Driver’s Licence is a requirement for this position.

About You

To succeed in this role, you will demonstrate:

Completion of a relevant degree or equivalent combination of experience, education, and training. Ability to manage conflicting priorities and make informed decisions independently. Strong oral and written communication skills for producing reports and correspondence. Demonstrated ability to work cooperatively with team members and stakeholders to achieve outcomes. Understanding of contemporary administrative systems and the ability to apply relevant policies in a complex environment.

About Flinders Rural and Remote Health NT

At Flinders Rural and Remote Health NT, our aim is to be a hub for innovative health research, education, and workforce development across the Northern Territory. Northern Territory Government legislation (the Care and Protection of Children Act 2007) now requires all individuals in child related employment or whose duties involve, or are likely to involve, contact with a child, to hold a valid 'Working with Children Clearance' (Ochre Card). This position involves child related work and is assessed as requiring a Working with Children Clearance/Ochre Card.
