Lifeline Australia is a national suicide prevention charity providing all Australians experiencing emotional distress with access to 24-hour crisis support and suicide prevention services. They are committed to empowering Australians to be suicide-safe through connection, compassion and hope. This is achieved through a partnership of over 10,000 committed volunteers and their member centres in communities across the nation.

DV-alert is a nationally recognised training program with training and assessment delivered by Lifeline Australia and approved third parties on behalf of Lifeline Australia (RTO 88036). The program is funded by the Australian Government Department of Social Services as a key initiative under the National Plan to End Violence against Women and Children 2022-2032. DV-alert is led by experienced trainers dedicated to ending violence against women and children. Our workshops provide a safe space for frontline workers to learn, connect and be empowered to recognise and respond confidently to those in crisis.

ROLE

As a Project Manager you will be responsible for planning and overseeing projects, from the initial ideation through to completion. You will coordinate people and processes to deliver projects on time, within budget and with the desired outcomes aligned to objectives.

Specifically, the Project Manager will be instrumental in the delivery of a new 1-day face-to-face workshop focussed on:

  • Growing knowledge of the complexities and nuances of domestic and family violence within LGBTQI+ context.
  • Frontline workers will learn how to Recognise, Respond and Refer appropriately and with care.

The Project manager will be responsible for the day to day running of the project, budget accountability, identifying resource requirements and constraints and keeping the National Manager DV-alert across the achievement of all project milestones.

This is a full-time, 12-month contract (4 days per week would be considered for the right candidate).

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Initiation, planning, tracking and reporting including effective scoping, business requirements definition, user stories, associated acceptance criteria and business case development.
  • Scheduling, tracking and management of activities and deliverables to ensure successful delivery within the parameters of budgets, resources, timelines and quality.
  • Stakeholder identification, engagement, management and communication of Risk and issue management, i.e. identification, reporting and mitigation to ensure successful delivery.
  • Ensure appropriate project governance arrangements are established, maintained and supported. Monitor project progress to ensure milestones and performance indicators are met.
  • Prepare meeting agendas, papers, reports and presentations etc as required. Take action minutes and follow through on matters arising. Manage risk/issues registers.
  • Demonstrable ability to chair and run effective meetings, including leading Advisory Group meetings.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills to engage and maintain compliance with scope and project planning.
  • Share information on projects with key stakeholders to ensure transparency and clear and accurate dissemination of information.
  • Maintain and manage relationships with multiple partners, including but not limited to government departments, sector representatives, suppliers, and internal staff.
  • Schedule definition, effort and duration estimation, task definition, timing, tracking and monitoring interdependencies definition, tracking, monitoring and management.
  • Planning, including ensuring effective requirements definition, business case development, roles/responsibilities definition.
  • Resource management, including identification, estimation, tracking and monitoring of risk and issue management including effective mitigation planning and reporting.
  • Financial management including budgets, forecasts and actuals o reporting at project, program and Steering Committee level.

REQUIREMENTS

  • Essential: Certification in Project Management with a minimum 3 to 5 years’ experience in project management.
  • Demonstrable experience completing multiple projects on time, within budget and delivering high quality outcomes.
  • Excellent skills with Microsoft Project or equivalent.
  • Demonstrate accomplished professional written communication skills within various genres. Excellent verbal communication skills and experience in stakeholder engagement.
  • Excellent attention to detail and ability to plan, organise and manage competing priorities.
  • Demonstrated project change management skills.
  • Highly developed analytical, problem solving and organisational skills with an ability to meet priorities, competing deadlines and use of sound judgement in decision making.
  • Demonstrated ability to work as part of a team of people, to provide consistent, responsive and high quality administrative and project support.
  • Demonstrated experience in the implementation of diversity and/or inclusion projects and initiatives.
  • Experience working within an NGO or charity environment is desirable. Experience working within the LGBTQ+ sector will be highly desirable.
  • Evidence of the right to work unrestricted in Australia.
  • National Police Record Check (current; renewed every two years).
