The Role:
The Workshop Leading Hand/Supervisor plays a critical role in coordinating and overseeing manufacturing activities within Smartstream Technology’s production facility. Reporting to the General Manager Operations, this role ensures that manufacturing processes are executed safely, efficiently, and in accordance with company standards. The role requires strong leadership, technical expertise, and the ability to manage a team effectively to meet production targets and quality standards
Duties include
- Oversee and coordinate daily workshop activities, ensuring compliance with production schedules, quality standards, and safety protocols.
- Allocate tasks to workshop staff, monitor progress, and ensure efficient workflow.
- Supervise assembly, fabrication, and testing of manufactured components, ensuring adherence to specifications.
- Assist in troubleshooting and resolving production issues to minimise downtime and delays.
- Provide clear instructions, delegate tasks effectively, and encourage teamwork and continuous improvement.
- Ensure all manufacturing processes align with Smartstream Technology’s quality control policies and procedures.
- Conduct regular inspections of completed products to verify compliance with specifications.
- Maintain accurate records of production activities, ensuring all documentation is up to date.
- Assist with procurement and inventory control of raw materials, tools, and equipment.
- Ensure all equipment is maintained, serviced, and in proper working condition.
- Conduct regular safety inspections and risk assessments, addressing any hazards or concern
About you:
- Excellent verbal, written and interpersonal skills.
- Demonstrated experience in Manufacturing, preferably in a leadership or supervisory role.
- Strong knowledge of manufacturing techniques, methods, and safety practices.
- Excellent leadership and interpersonal skills, with the ability to motivate and inspire a team.
- Sound understanding of manufacturing process, specifications, and quality standards.
- Effective communication and problem-solving abilities.
- Strong organisational and time management skills.
- Proven ability to work collaboratively in a team environment
- Availability and ability to work reasonable overtime, including Saturday’s. This may include other projects when required.
- Minimum 3 year’s experience in Manufacturing of Plastics materials is highly desirable.
- Cert IV in Supervision or willingness to work towards achieving.
- Current and Valid Australian Driver’s License.
- Forklift License (preferred but not essential).
- First Aid Certification (or willingness to obtain).
- White Card/ Construction Card (desirable but not essential)
