Job Description
About the role
Join Sydney Airport’s Technology - Cyber Security & Infrastructure team as a Senior Network Engineer, where you'll play a vital role in designing, building, and maintaining critical network infrastructure. You’ll enhance IT and OT network security, ensure near-perfect uptime, and implement solutions that enable growth and productivity. Your expertise will help safeguard assets, ensure compliance, and maintain a highly resilient and efficient network.
In this role, you will be
- Acting as a Subject Matter Expert on all network-related matters, providing consultation and solutions
- Developing high-level and low-level network solution designs.
- Building, managing and securing IT and OT networks
- Continuously improving network resiliency, high availability, and security posture
- Cultivating robust relationships with internal teams, partners, external vendors, and technical experts to drive successful outcomes
- Proactively monitoring & optimizing networks
- Managing SLA/OLA compliance across network services, ensuring timely resolution of issues.
- Innovating and keeping up to date with cloud delivered services and modern architectures such as Secure Access Secure Edge (SASE) and Zero Trust Architecture (ZTE).
- Well-versed in ITIL change management processes, ensuring all network changes are thoroughly vetted and reviewed
- Standardising environments and overseeing asset lifecycle to ensure optimal network performance and compliance.
- Mentoring and coaching network engineers, fostering a collaborative and professional, “lead by example” team environment.
- 7-10 years of experience in a senior technical infrastructure role, with expertise in designing and managing critical infrastructure.
- Highly skilled in routing and switching technologies such as OSPF, BGP, MPLS, VRF, Spanning Tree, 802.1x, and VXLAN EVPN.
- Proficient in managing and supporting firewalls such as Fortinet, Palo Alto Networks or Cisco.
- Broad knowledge of IT and OT environments
- Exceptional interpersonal skills, ability to effectively interface with project managers and a wide variety of technical and non-technical people
- Proficient in creating high-quality architectural diagrams and ‘as built’ documentation
- Effective time management, able to set and meet deadlines
- Not afraid to pick up the phone or instigate discussions to solve problems
- Sound knowledge of cyber security standards and frameworks such as ISO27001, NIST, IEC62443, SOCI Act or equivalent
- Effective time management and the ability to prioritize multiple tasks while working under pressure.
