About the role:

As a Streetscape & Tree Planting Team Member, you will play a key role in establishing and maintaining healthy trees across our community. You will be responsible for seasonal planting and watering, ensuring young trees thrive and contribute to a greener urban environment. Operating a variety of plant and equipment, you will carry out your duties safely, efficiently, and in line with service standards. Working as part of a collaborative team, you will follow directions, maintain accurate records, and uphold Council policies and procedures to support the success of the tree establishment program.

Key Responsibilities:

• Assist in tree planting, seasonal watering, and establishing watering schedules to ensure healthy tree growth.
• Conduct seasonal formal pruning and soil amelioration to support tree development.
• Operate and maintain a variety of plant and equipment, ensuring safe and effective use.
• Liaise with nurseries and assist in collecting plants and arranging necessary resources.
• Perform tree planting set-outs and locate underground services before planting.
• Maintain accurate records of daily work tasks and materials used.
• Actively participate in team meetings, toolbox talks, and continuous improvement initiatives.
• Work collaboratively as part of a team to achieve streetscape and urban greening goals.

To thrive within this role, you will possess:

• A minimum MR Truck Licence.
• Qualifications or experience in Horticulture or Arboriculture.
• Knowledge of pruning techniques, horticultural practices, and tree species (both indigenous and exotic).
• Experience operating light Skid Steer Loader & Auger.
• Strong commitment to safe work practices and ability to interpret plans and specifications.
• Great teamwork, communication, and problem-solving skills.
