The Role:
As a Female Disability Support Worker, you will provide essential support to individuals with disabilities who also experience complex mental health challenges. Your role will involve assisting with daily activities, promoting independence, and ensuring the safety and well-being of individuals under your care. You will use your expertise in complex mental health to foster a supportive, calm, and safe environment, encouraging autonomy while being ready to respond with empathy and professionalism.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide personal care, assistance with daily living activities, and support with mobility, hygiene, and other needs.
- Offer emotional support and use therapeutic techniques to manage complex mental health challenges.
- Develop and implement care plans that are individualized, ensuring they are tailored to each person’s needs and preferences.
- Foster independence and self-esteem, while assisting with social and recreational activities.
- Work collaboratively with a multi-disciplinary team to ensure comprehensive care.
- Maintain accurate records and documentation of care provided, in line with company policies and regulatory requirements.
- Provide a compassionate and respectful environment, always adhering to professional boundaries and ethical guidelines.
Key Requirements:
- Proven experience in supporting individuals with complex mental health needs.
- Strong understanding of disability care, mental health, and the challenges individuals with dual diagnoses face.
- Previous experience in a similar role, supporting clients in a residential, community, or healthcare setting.
- Empathy, patience, and excellent communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Relevant qualifications or certifications in Health and Social Care or similar fields (preferred).
- A commitment to upholding the values of respect, dignity, and inclusion.
- Full AUS driving licence.
