About the Opportunity
Multiple opportunities are available within the two Customer Service branches at the Public Trustee in Estate Services and Personal Estates.
Personal Estates:
The ASO3 Personal Estates Officer provides a personal administrative service to individual customers for protected, award and power of attorney customers being supported by us. This includes assisting them in their day-to-day financial decision making and ensuring acceptable rates of return on estate investments through regular investment strategy reviews and arranging for the sale and/or purchase of investments.
The ASO3 Personal Estates Officer is responsible for:
• Interviewing and liaising with customers or customer representatives to obtain information and developing close working relationships with other service providers of these customers.
• Identifying, recording and arranging for payment of customers’ debts and accounts.
• Preparing accurate financial statements for reporting to and attending the South Australian Civil & Administrative Tribunal and other Court hearings as required.
• Exercising delegated authorities or, where appropriate, obtaining approval from the relevant delegate for a proposed investment strategy for each customer.
Estate Services:
The ASO3 Estate Services Officer provides exceptional administrative services to individual customers for trusts and estates under the Public Trustee’s management. This includes the provision of advice, managing caseload of customers taxation matters, the collection or transfer of estate assets and the investment of customers’ funds.
The ASO3 Estate Services Officer is responsible for:
• Interviewing beneficiaries and clients to gather information and maintaining effective relationships with internal and external service providers involved in estate administration.
• Managing and arranging the payment of estate liabilities in accordance with relevant procedures and legal requirements.
• Preparing accurate financial statements for estates and trusts, ensuring compliance with organisational standards.
• Coordinating the sale, transfer, and purchase of estate assets, including properties, ensuring adherence to legal and procedural requirements.
• Regularly reviewing and liaising with customers regarding trust investments to ensure assets are managed in alignment with customers’ needs and objectives.

About the Business
The Office of the Public Trustee (Public Trustee) operates as part of the Attorney-General’s Department and was established on 1 January 1881, under the Public Trustee Act 1995 (SA). It offers services to South Australians, including will preparation, powers of attorney, and administration of deceased estates and trusts. The Public Trustee is also responsible for managing the personal, legal, and financial affairs of individuals who are unable to handle these matters on their own. Special Conditions for Employment
Employment is dependent upon a National Police Certificate clearance that the AGD finds satisfactory. Successful applicants will be provided further information if an interview is requested.
