Tonsley Technical College: Shaping the Future of Technical Education in South Australia

Tonsley Technical College will be a visionary institution that aims to revolutionize technical education in South Australia. The State Government is investing in  Technical Colleges  that will set the standard for excellence in their design, learning environment and delivery of skills-based training for school-enrolled students. 

Tonsley Technical College will be partnered with Australian Science and Mathematics School and will be opening in 2026. Tonsley Technical College will be located in the Tonsley Innovation Precinct and built in tandem with Flinders University’s Factory of the Future, an industry focused research and capability-building facility.

Tonsley Technical College will offer three industry training programs focussing on industries in high demand such as Advanced Manufacturing and Engineering, Automotive and Energy, and Building and Construction. The college will partner with high-profile employers, training providers and higher education partners.

What you will do:

  • Educational Leadership: Support the development of professional learning environments by strengthening networks between teachers, trainers, industry and employer partners within and beyond Tonsley Technical College to foster dialogue, sharing, and constructive feedback to improve educational outcomes for students.
  • Strategic Planning: Lead the implementation of a range of student support strategies including quality career education and guidance, wellbeing for learning and mentoring in the technical college and with employer partners.
  • Positive outcomes: Lead a positive and constructive and working environment that is focused on quality student outcomes.

What you will need:

  • Proven ability to establish sound and effective relationships and communication with staff, students, parents, and training providers to promote professional dialogue and a collaborative working culture resulting in improved educational outcomes for students.
  • Proven ability to lead the designing and delivery of high-quality teaching approaches that foster student engagement and support learner growth.
  • Experience in leading flexible industry pathway curriculum and educational reform including processes to engage community and industry stakeholders to establish pathways for students.
