DescriptionResident Engineer – Networking Products
About the position
Working with the Service Delivery Lead, this is a highly technical role, providing design and implementation engineering support on-site and remotely for Juniper Networks Products.
The Resident Engineer will be required to develop and maintain expertise on the products deployed within the Customer’s network and provide mentoring on Juniper solutions.
Responsibilities:Technical support to the Customer will require the Engineer to:
- Provide best practice advice from your network experiences to assist the customer with network design and test and operations to deliver the best possible network resiliency. Contribute to high and low level network documentation including design documents, test plans, troubleshooting guides, etc.
- Assist customers to resolve product and network problems, and work with Juniper teams to derive root cause and possible fixes.
- Deliver technical knowledge transfers about Juniper equipment, configuration, new products, design guidelines, technology etc.
- Provide proactive activity assistance and change recommendations for Juniper equipment
- Participate in testing and validation workshops, detailing methods and procedures for executing changes to the Customer’s existing network design and technical requirements, assessing pros and cons of ideas.
- Understand the organisational structure of the working environment and become familiar with the Customers network implementation, architectural principals, and Support processes and procedures.
- Assist the Customer to evolve Network Operating and Equipment Operating Procedures.
- Deliver weekly reports on progress updates to projects, issues or problems.
- Contribute to monthly technical reviews and advice on Juniper equipment operation.

- 5+ years experience in providing implementation and technical support in large organisations which have many networking products from multiple vendors.
- Comprehensive understanding of Service Provider technologies including MPLS, Segment routing, CGNAT and BNG.
- Detailed technical experience in the testing, installation and operation of MX, PTX, QFX, ACX and EX based networks and security products. This expertise includes hands-on operation of management tools and network analyzers.
- Experience with Python and shell scripting. Knowledge of Automation, Cloud and Security technologies preferred.
- Strong interpersonal skills, working with the customer and different departments within Juniper in a responsible and professional fashion.
- Expert level relationship management and communications skills to manage daily face to face communications with multiple levels of customer management and cross-functional engineering staff.
- Proven ability to manage numerous projects and work efficiently.
- JNCIP or equivalent certification.
- Must be located in Melbourne and hold a valid work visa or citizenship.
