About us:

Rockhampton Hospital is the main referral hospital in Central Queensland. The other primary hospitals within the health service are Gladstone, Emerald, Yeppoon and Biloela together with many smaller rural units transfer patients through to Rockhampton for specialist care and investigation. The Director of Nursing and Midwifery holds a key role in the Rockhampton, Capricorn Coast and Mount Morgan Operational Leadership Team providing high level contemporary strategic, operational and professional leadership for Nursing across the Rockhampton, Capricorn Coast and Mount Morgan Group, whilst also providing operational management of Family, Women and Child Services.

About the role:

The Director of Nursing and Midwifery (DONM) leads Nursing and Midwifery Services, promoting high-quality, evidence-based care through education and research. This role directly manages the Rockhampton Maternity Service, Paediatric Unit, Child and Family Health Service, and Child Protection Service, ensuring effective service delivery and resource management.

The DONM collaborates with the Operational Leadership Team to shape corporate and clinical governance while supporting the Executive Director's strategic vision. This position has multi-site responsibilities, oversees key nursing roles at Grade 7, and manages maternity and child health services across the region. Additionally, the DONM is accountable for financial and human resource delegations and handles various portfolios as directed.

About you:

  • Registered Nursing or Registered Midwifery qualification/s
  • Registration with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA)
  • Post graduate qualifications in health services management or other related fields are highly desirable.

What we offer:

Total remuneration value of up to $219,034 p.a. is comprised of:

  • An hourly rate of $96.81 p.h.
  • 12.75% employer superannuation contribution
  • 17.5% leave loading
