Position Information

Walters Road Public School is a committed learning community in the Bungarribee network, located in Blacktown Local Government Area, situated on Darug land. The school is an active member of the Nurringingy AECG. Approximately 61% students identify as having a language background other than English, with the main languages spoken being Arabic, Hindi, Dari, Punjabi, Gajarati and Tagalog. With a current enrolment of approximately 530 students, Walters Road Public School embraces the cultural and language backgrounds of all stu and fosters an environment where students feel accepted and valued by their peers and staff.

Our school currently consists of 20 mainstream classes and 3 Inclusive Classes. Dedicated staff emphasise academic skills and hold high expectations for all students. The school has a strong focus on evidence-based approaches to teaching literacy and numeracy, systematic and reliable assessment approaches that will ascertain observable changes in teaching as well as wellbeing practices which are grounded in evidence-based change that will result in measurable improvements in wellbeing, engagement and positive, respectful relationships.


Selection Criteria

1. Approval to teach special education and/or experience, skills and knowledge to teach students with complex needs, including autism, mild intellectual disabilities, behaviour disorders, trauma and mental health in a multistage K-3 setting.

2. Demonstrated capacity to plan and deliver learning programs in literacy and numeracy catering to a wide variety of needs in a support class setting.

3. Proven ability to work collaboratively with parents and external stakeholders to set individualised learning goals and develop personalised learning and support plans.

4. Demonstrated classroom management skills and proven capacity to implement positive behaviour strategies to support student engagement, participation and wellbeing in a support class setting.


Conditions

An unconditional full approval to teach is a requirement. If you do not hold a full approval to teach with the NSW Department of Education, you are required to commence the application process at the same time as you apply for this teaching opportunity.
