- provide financial and administrative support to all three core Biosecurity Queensland programs including Animal Biosecurity and Welfare; Plant Biosecurity and Product Integrity; Invasive Plants and Animals
- assist the program’s Senior Business Services Officer, as required.
Strategy, Investment and Performance (SIP) delivers a range of services to support Biosecurity Queensland (BQ). SIP partners with BQ program areas to provide specialised advice on best business practice and technology to serve internal (and sometimes external) customers and business stakeholders.
As Our Administration Officer (Finance), You Will
- Prepare and assist in the development of the Program's annual budget with particular emphasis on State and Own-Sourced revenue and expenditure. Monitor the approved budget on a regular basis, providing advice including budget variance analysis to the Senior Business Services Officer and Project Leaders.
- Monitor, analyse and evaluate revenue and expenditure (taking corrective action when required) to ensure effective and responsible financial management and the optimisation of monetary, human and physical resources.
- Provide regular financial reports to Project Leaders and the Senior Business Services Officer including recommendations for appropriate action.
- Update, monitor and produce reports from departmental financial and information systems such as the budget tool (AI), finance system (ECC6), and other systems as required.
- Maintain high levels of confidentiality and sensitivity in provision of services and display a willingness to plan and develop work schedules to meet critical financial and business deadlines.
- Provide timely and accurate advice to Program staff on a range of Corporate Standards and internal policies including financial, procurement and administrative matters.
- Provide effective financial and project management support services to Biosecurity Queensland staff ensuring that all activities are within Departmental guidelines.
- Undertake procedures to maximise the accountability, efficiency and compliance with financial management policy, standards and practices including the internal controls self-assessment process.
- Work as an active team member by assisting other Business Services officers in managing workloads during peak times/periods of leave.
- Perform other ad hoc duties as required under the direction of the Senior Business Services Officer.
