Breast Care / Oncological Nurse (Bcn)

Think Pink Foundation
Melbourne Full-day Full-time

Description:

Statistically, one in seven women will be diagnosed with breast cancer during their lifetime. This means that this year, approximately 20,500 women will be diagnosed with breast cancer nationally and almost 4,000 of those will come from Victoria. One per cent of all cases diagnosed will be men.

At The Think Pink Foundation, our focus is on the very real needs and struggles of those who have been diagnosed and are currently living through what is probably the most challenging time of their life.

Simply put, our mission is to enable a better journey through breast cancer for patients and their families. Primarily, we do this by providing direct emotional, practical, and physical support through a comprehensive range of programs we offer at our unique wellness centre, called The Living Centre. Now based at Docklands, it was originally opened on 9th September 2010 by The Hon Daniel Andrews MP, then Minister for Health Victoria.

Importantly, all our services are provided free of charge and are available to breast cancer patients from any treatment centre and at any stage of their journey - from initial diagnosis, through treatment and into survivorship.

The Role: Breast Care Nurse

The Breast Care Nurse (BCN) at The Think Pink Foundation is based at its dynamic centre, centrally located in Docklands, Melbourne. The BCN plays a pivotal role in the co-ordination of services for clients attending the centre and delivers education and support programs under the direction of the Director of Operations.

The BCN leads a small, dedicated team who assist with services, events, day to day activities within the centre and work liaising with other health care professionals who specialise in the treatment of breast cancer as well as other key community organizations dedicated to improving supportive care outcomes for patients and families.
