This full-time position offers the opportunity to be part of a dedicated Surface Water team working on a range of project sizes and types, from stand-alone flood studies to multi-disciplinary development projects.
With a focus on technical delivery, you will also have the opportunity and support to lead projects, manage clients, and mentor developing team members.
Be involved in creating sustainable outcomes for management of surface water, and integrating your solutions into our clients overall project.
Within RMA, you have the choice of working in one of our 3 office locations – our Brisbane office to make the most of Queensland’s Metropolitan Centre, Toowoomba for a tree change and fresh mountain air, or in Bundaberg for a sea change.
The opportunity
In this varied role you will:
- Influence a broad range of projects – Be responsible for flood impact assessments for a diverse number of developments across land development, built environment and agriculture, including input into the development concept, mitigation conceptual design and reporting.
- Improve community infrastructure – Adding to RMAs well rounded main roads prequalification, and noting that we hold the highest prequalification for hydraulic design – be part of improving our transport systems through integrating surface water solutions to complement the delivery of transport planning and detailed design projects throughout Queensland for both state and local governments.
- Be supported and grow new skills – Being part of a multi-disciplinary business, you will feed off Technical Principals in a number of disciplines, to leverage your surface water skills into overall project outcomes.
- Build your brand – Have the opportunity to be client facing and represent your skills and expertise, alongside other engineers and consultants, to collectively create long lasting outcomes.

About you
To succeed in this role you will have:
1. A Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering
2. A passion for flood modelling and stormwater management
3. A minimum of 2 years’ post graduate experience in 2D flood modelling using TUFLOW, and experience in stormwater quality and quantity management plans and analysis, having experience in delivering:
– Flood impact assessments and analysis and reporting
– Stormwater management plans (Quality and Quantity), Analysis, reporting and design
– Stormwater elemental design/analysis
4. Ideally some civil design experience to compliment your key flood and stormwater analysis.
5. Preferably an understanding and have implemented the requirements of Queensland’s urban drainage standards for state and local government
6. Solid understanding and competency of software:
a. TUFLOW, QGIS, DRAINS, MUSIC
7. Some understanding and competency of software:
a. 12D, AUTOCAD, CIVIL 3D
8. Demonstrated ability to manage project budgets, forecasting and profitability
9. Demonstrated ability to maintain strong client and team relations
10. Excellent written and verbal communication skills
11. Demonstrated strong problem solving and analytical skills
12. Open unrestricted Driver’s Licence
13. General Construction Induction Card (White Card)
