About the Role:
The St Vincent de Paul Society (SA) Inc (Vinnies) is seeking enthusiastic Retail Shop Assistant to join our team in Adelaide If you’re passionate about retail, have a heart for service, and enjoy making a positive impact, this is the role for you!
In this role, you’ll contribute to our mission of alleviating poverty and hardship across South Australia by ensuring the smooth operation of our store, providing exceptional customer service, and supporting a welcoming environment for all. About Us:
The St Vincent de Paul Society (SA) Inc (The Society) is a major international charitable and voluntary organisation that has been operating in South Australia since 1884. Our principal role is to provide for or alleviate the needs of disadvantaged people in the community. The Society is committed to addressing poverty and hardship through direct support and advocacy.
In South Australia, The Society has over 2,500 members and volunteers, 140 employees, 35 shops, 10 Fred’s Van locations, a Refugee and Asylum Seeker Service, and both Men’s and Women’s Crisis Centres. Our local member networks, known as Conferences, are active in over 56 communities across the state.
Together, we are all playing our part to create positive change. Our retail network is essential in this mission, as it raises crucial funds that allow us to provide these vital services and assistance to those in need.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist with retail sales and operate Point of Sale devices
- Sort, price, and display donated goods according to store policies
- Support visual merchandising and store presentation
- Deliver outstanding customer service to all visitors
- Maintain a tidy, organised, and safe store environment
- Supervise volunteers and conduct store opening/closing in the Shop Manager's absence
- Promote material donations to support the Society’s mission
About You:
You bring a positive, can-do attitude and thrive in a team-oriented, hands-on environment. With a passion for retail and proven ability to deliver outstanding customer service. We’re looking for someone who has:
- Weekend availability (essential)
- Previous retail experience (highly regarded)
- Strong communication and customer service skills
- Alignment with Vinnies’ values and mission to make a difference in the community
- A Certificate III in Retail or similar qualifications (desirable)
- Experience in a not-for-profit organisation (a plus)

Special Requirements:
