Job Summary
We are seeking an experienced and dedicated Air-conditioning and Refrigeration Mechanic to join our dynamic team. The successful candidate will bring extensive expertise in HVAC-R systems, including screw chillers, split ducted VRF systems, CRAC units, heat pumps, and fan coil units. With a strong background in preventive maintenance, equipment installation, and team leadership, you will play a key role in ensuring the optimal functionality and efficiency of our clients' air conditioning and refrigeration systems.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform installation, maintenance, and repairs of commercial and industrial HVAC-R systems, including air-cooled and water-cooled systems.
- Conduct preventive maintenance on refrigeration and air conditioning units, ensuring compliance with safety regulations and manufacturer guidelines.
- Troubleshoot, diagnose, and repair faults in refrigeration and air conditioning systems, including electrical components, compressors, condensers, and evaporators.
- Oversee the calibration and functionality testing of air handling units, actuators, fan belts, and environmental control systems.
- Maintain and service kitchen refrigeration units, walk-in coolers, blast chillers, and exhaust systems, ensuring compliance with HACCP and municipal regulations.
- Manage and optimize building management systems (BMS) and chiller performance monitoring.
- Provide training, guidance, and technical support to junior technicians, ensuring adherence to safety protocols and industry best practices.
- Perform regular inspections and routine servicing of solar water systems, fire pumps, power generators, and other critical plant equipment.
- Work collaboratively with contractors and site managers to ensure seamless project execution and compliance with client specifications.
- Maintain detailed service logs and documentation of work performed, ensuring regulatory and operational compliance.
Skills & Experience Required
- Trade Qualification: Certificate in Refrigeration and Air Conditioning.
- Experience: Minimum of 5 years in HVAC-R maintenance, installation, and repair, preferably in luxury hospitality, commercial, or industrial settings.
- Technical Expertise: Strong knowledge of VRF/VRV systems, CRAC units, split systems, fan coil units, screw chillers, and refrigeration cycle components.
- Compliance & Safety: Familiarity with Australian Standards, safety regulations, and best practices for HVAC-R maintenance.
- Leadership & Training: Experience managing and training teams, ensuring efficient service delivery and technical upskilling.
- Problem-Solving: Ability to diagnose complex faults, conduct root cause analysis, and implement effective solutions.
- Communication & Documentation: Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to maintain service records and provide reports.
- Certifications: First Aid, CPR, and Low Voltage Rescue (LVR) are desirable.
