Description:
We are seeking a suitably experienced Sports Assistant to join our College Sports & Recreation team on a Part-Time Ongoing basis.This position is responsible for providing a wide range of administrative and technical support to the Sport and Recreation Education department of the College, working closely with the Sport and Recreation Team Leader and Coordinators.
The days and hours of work are a flexible 3 days per week, 0.60 FTE.
Key responsibilities include:
- Prepare and organise equipment for various sporting teams and scheduled PE classes.
- Managing sport equipment and monitoring for damage.
- Maintain team uniforms (allocation, washing, sorting and folding).
- Organise and assist in running school carnivals (swimming, cross country and athletics), including set up and pack up.
- Prepare documentation and equipment for all SIS activities.
- Organise and liaise with external venues, other schools and coaches.
- Monitoring equipment loaned out at lunchtime, ensure equipment is returned.
- Assist with various team sports i.e. assist coach, runner, water carrier, umpire, team manager and assist with selection.
- Purchasing officer for the Sport and HPE budgets.
- Organise lunchtime activities.
- Liaise directly with sport captains when required.
- Ensure the gymnasium and storerooms are kept in a tidy manner ready for all classes, school activities and sporting events.
- Various administration duties including production of flyers, booking transport/venues, collation of medical forms and permission slips.
- Regular and thorough inspection of all equipment used by students and teachers, reporting any damages and arrange repair.

- Ability to organise systematically including resources, data and events.
- Can clearly establish priorities and meet deadlines.
- Excellent communication skills both written and verbal.
- Can effectively build and maintain professional relationships.
- Experience with and sold understanding of Microsoft products.
- Ability to work within a team as well as automatously.
- Demonstrates strong organisation skills.
- Flexible and adaptable to changing conditions.
- Previous coaching experience (desirable).
- Understanding and interest of sports and Physical Education.
- Commitment to occupational health and safety.
