The Role:
Reliability is the cornerstone in transport and to ensure reliability we make sure our fleet is maintained to the highest level. To help us achieve this we are looking for an Apprentice Diesel Mechanic to join our workshop team in Melbourne.
Whether you have already begun your apprenticeship, or you are seeking to take your first steps into the field of mechanics, we value those who are motivated and eager to learn.
The variety of exposure to different vehicles in this role ensures no two days will be the same and that your growth as an apprentice won’t slow down.
You will complete a Certificate III in Heavy Commercial Vehicle Mechanical Technology with an opportunity to upskill to second trade; and will be supported by dedicated OEM training.
Your main responsibilities will include:
- Assisting with repair, replace, maintain and test a high volume of company vehicles and related mechanical and electrical components
- Completing work in a safe and efficient manner
- Servicing vehicles in line with company servicing schedule
- Accurate completion of all paperwork associated with fleet maintenance and repair
- Assisting with attending to breakdowns and accidents as required
- Engaging in hands on learning alongside fully qualified tradesmen
- Attending all classes as part of your training plan as provided by the relevant registered training organisation.
To succeed in this role, we anticipate you will be able to demonstrate:
- Participation and following directions for all on-the-job training
- Attending the training organisation to participate in off-the-job training as scheduled
- Maintaining a Training Record Book and ensure that it is updated weekly
- You must be enthusiastic, professional & reliable with good communication skills
- An aptitude for hands-on work and operating with a range of tools and equipment
- A commitment to work health and safely
- Basic computer skills
- And above all, the willingness to learn and enjoy what you are doing
