About the role

We are currently seeking Boilermakers/Fabricators for our state-of-the-art Pakenham workshop. 12 hour shifts, Monday - Friday. Structural steel experience is required ; MIG, Arc + Flux-Core welding.

Duties

  • Review drawings & specifications to determine job requirements
  • Select correct materials for the job to be cut
  • Mark out material such as steel plate, pipe, PFC etc in preparation for cutting or bending
  • Cutting of marked out items as per dimensions on drawings using oxy cutting torches, band saw etc
  • If required bend items to specifications on drawings by using a press or heating where required
  • Preparing items using power or hand tools ready for assembly
  • Assemble job items using hand tools & measuring equipment & tack weld together
  • Measure & examine completed work to verify conformance to specifications before welding
  • Weld components & framework using a variety of welding processes either to client specifications or to AS1554
  • Inspect completed works & grind, sand, polish to required finish using hand & power tools to a high standard
  • Work with supervisor to ensure all jobs have been inspected before they leave the workshop

Skills and experience
Essential Criteria (what's required):

  • Trade certification (Cert III in Fabrication Trade or relevant experience)
  • Minimum 4 years' experience
  • Motivated and hardworking with a professional attitude
  • Supply a current manual driver's licence
  • Ability to work well in a team
  • Strong commitment towards safety and quality
  • Excellent troubleshooting and diagnostic skills
  • Company and customer focused based
  • Ability to pass a medical and D&A screen
  • Forklift and EWP are desirable however not essential
  • Current or willing to undergo National Police Clearance
