What you’ll be working on:

Reporting to our Head of Commercial and Project Controls, the Senior Contracts Administrator will initially be dedicated to a major project and work closely with the project team, specifically the Project Manager, and Project Engineers for the purpose of preparing, negotiating subcontracts and tracking the performance of subcontractors. You will be liaising with suppliers and subcontractors as well as internal stakeholders to ensure compliance and positive contract outcomes. You will be responsible for mitigating risks, preparing reports, resolving issues and disputes, engaging in negotiations and ensuring contractual compliance.

To be successful in this role you will have

  • Relevant degree qualification (e.g. Quantity Surveying, Construction Management, Construction Law, Engineering, Business) or experience deemed equivalent.
  • Strong stakeholder management skills with multiple stakeholders and in particular external suppliers,
  • Strong communication skills with ability to convene complex commercial matters through reports and presentations and strong understanding of construction law.
  • 7+ years’ contract and commercial management experience in construction and infrastructure projects in a large complex organisation, preferably in a similar organisation or industry sector,
  • Relevant work experience for Tier 1 and Tier 2 contractors in addition to client side
  • Strong understanding of construction transaction and delivery models
  • Ability to partner closely with the business while maintaining a degree of functional independence

Tasks and Responsibilities:

Commercial and contracts management:

  • lead procurement, negotiation, and management of subcontractors and suppliers
  • effectively manage all subcontractors and suppliers (procurement, variations, change events, etc.)
  • ensure supply chain is aligned with obligations of the head contract
  • prepare and manage progress claims and forecasting reports
  • monitor financial status and prepare cash flow statements
  • resolve issues with clients and subcontractors in relation to contractual compliance
  • responsible for month end reporting and cost management
  • preparing, negotiating and managing execution of downstream subcontracts or agreements with input from project team and relevant stakeholders.
  • oversee contract management through the full project lifecycle, including preparation, negotiation, execution and close out of contracts
  • accountable for contract execution process including subcontractor/supplier prequalification.
  • track and manage project expenditure to ensure adherence to budget constraints
