About the role
Bright Access' is seeking passionate and dedicated Disability Support Workers to join our growing team. In this full-time role based in Latrobe Valley area, VIC, you will play a vital part in providing high-quality support and care to individuals with a range of disabilities, empowering them to live independently and reach their full potential.
What you'll be doing
- Assisting clients with their daily living activities, including personal care, meal preparation, and household tasks
- Leading a dedicated team of support workers
- Liaising with a wide range team of stakeholders
- Chair and arrange monthly team meeting agendas
- Attend monthly Front line management meetings
- Accompanying and supporting clients to participate in social, recreational, and educational activities within the community
- Advocating for client rights and ensuring their needs are met with empathy and respect
- Collaborating with the client, their family, and the broader care team to develop and implement tailored support plans
- Maintaining accurate records and documentation to ensure the highest standards of care
- Adhering to all relevant policies, procedures, and industry regulations to ensure client safety and wellbeing
What we're looking for
- A Certificate III or IV in Disability Support or a related field, or a willingness to obtain this qualification
- Experience in leading a team desirable
- Experience in managing challenging behaviors desirable
- Demonstrated experience in providing person-centred care and support to individuals with disabilities
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build trusting relationships with clients
- A compassionate and patient approach, with a genuine commitment to improving the lives of those you support
- Excellent problem-solving and decision-making skills, with the ability to work independently and as part of a team
- A valid driver's license and access to a reliable vehicle is preferred
