Who is RMIT Online?
We’re all about delivering world-class digital learning experiences, with a strong focus on the future of work. Our passionate and nimble team is dedicated to creating a community of lifelong learners who thrive in their careers.
Collaborating with industry leaders and experts, we offer top-tier online education using the latest digital tools and technologies—and have fun along the way.
Let’s Talk About You
You’re an experienced project manager who thrives in fast-paced, complex environments. You’ve led multiple projects at once, keeping stakeholders aligned while balancing competing priorities like a pro.
You have a knack for delivering high-quality outcomes on time, and your ability to coordinate cross-functional teams is second to none. You understand the complexities of large institutions (bonus points if you’ve navigated university landscapes before!) and can bring people together to get things done.
You’re a master problem-solver, quick to identify risks before they become roadblocks, and you don’t just report on issues—you proactively tackle them. Above all, you’re a great communicator who can build relationships, drive alignment, and bring clarity to projects.
About the Role
Reporting to the Senior Product Manager, you will be responsible for managing high-profile projects that bring non-award courses to market on behalf of RMIT University. You’ll work at the intersection of RMIT Online and RMIT University, navigating complex stakeholder environments and ensuring the seamless delivery of short courses, micro-credentials, and other non-award products.
You’ll be responsible for leading multiple projects at once, typically running between 12 to 24 weeks, ensuring that each course is developed and ready for student enrolment. Collaboration is key—you’ll work closely with the University Colleges, stakeholders, and teams across Student Experience, Product, Technology, and more to ensure alignment and delivery success.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and manage multiple concurrent projects, overseeing the development and launch of non-award courses.
- Own the end-to-end project lifecycle, from scoping to execution, ensuring projects are delivered on time, within scope, and to a high standard.
- Work closely with cross-functional teams across RMIT Online and RMIT University, ensuring collaboration and alignment.
- Develop and maintain project plans, clearly defining requirements, milestones, and resource needs.
- Identify and mitigate risks proactively, addressing challenges before they impact delivery.
- Establish repeatable and scalable project delivery frameworks for RMIT Online’s short courses and micro-credentials.
- Monitor, evaluate, and report on project progress, providing regular updates and insights to leadership teams.
Our Team and Hybrid Ways of Working
You’ll join the Product team – a small, tight-knit, highly experienced group who take our work seriously—but never ourselves. Our team has a great sense of humour, loves to travel, and thrives on collaboration. We’re passionate about making an impact and disrupting the education space by delivering innovative products to market.
We work flexibly, with the expectation that we come into the Melbourne CBD office weekly—typically on Tuesdays and Thursdays —to stay connected and foster creativity. Beyond that, where and how you work is up to you—whatever helps you bring your best self to work!
Strong social connections are at the heart of our team, whether it’s sharing a coffee, talking about our weekends (or life in general), or planning our next holiday.
What makes you a great fit?
- Extensive Project Management Expertise: You’ve successfully led complex projects in fast-moving environments, ideally in a university or higher education setting.
- Results-Oriented and Quality-Focused: You’re committed to delivering high-quality outcomes on time and within budget.
- Stakeholder Management: You know how to build relationships and keep diverse stakeholders aligned, including executives, academic staff, and external partners.
- Risk and Issue Management: You’re proactive about identifying risks and solving problems before they escalate.
- Adaptability and Resilience: You thrive under pressure and can juggle multiple priorities without breaking a sweat.
- Sector Knowledge (Desirable): Experience in the university or higher education sector is a plus.
Joining RMIT Online means joining a team that’s not just about building courses—it’s about building futures. If you’re ready to collaborate with brilliant minds and shape the future of online education, we’d love to hear from you.
