Selection Criteria

SC1 Demonstrated capacity to lead an office team, including capacity for directing the work of others and a capacity to monitor and manage staff performance including overseeing the education support staff annual performance reviews and development planning.

SC2 Demonstrated knowledge and experience in respect to human resource and management records systems.

SC3 Demonstrated capacity to provide high level organisational, interpersonal and management skills as well as excellent communication skills necessary to support a busy school setting and its business practices including management of the office administration team.

SC4 Capacity to monitor and maintain the Student Resource Package (SRP) and associated online planner, provide high level advice to the College Principal on Human Resources and Workforce Planning matters.

SC5 Demonstrated high level competency and understanding of Department of Education and Training software systems including CASES21, Recruitment Online, EduPay, and the associated internal controls, policy, procedures, guidelines, and employment conditions relevant to school-based staff.

Role

Human Resources

  • Oversee effective administrative and HR service to school.
  • Support/liaise with principal on all aspects of staffing.
  • Participate as a member of relevant sub-committees and working groups.
  • Contribute workforce planning strategies.
  • Management of SRP including staffing budgets.
  • Provide high level advice and support to Principal on HR matters.
  • Manage end to end recruitment process including liaise with successful applicants.
  • Manage Edupay/Local Payroll.
  • Manage Workcover/RTW for all staff.
  • Manage confidential storage including retrieval of HR information.
  • PD of all ES staff.
  • Preparation of all Leave requests.
  • Manage all approved Time in Lieu requests via Edupay.
Responsibilities

Human Resources

  • Conduct regular team meetings and actively support educational support staff to reflect upon and improve their professional practice.
  • Participate in the implementation and further development of the school's workforce plan and provide authoritative advice on recruitment policy and procedures for all school operations and services.
  • Manage the work practices, priorities, performance and development of education support staff.
  • Research, plan and prepare development programs for support staff.
  • Manage recruitment procedures, and or oversee delegated duties in conjunction with the principal.
  • Provide authoritative advice to the leadership team on support structures and work practices.
  • Assist in the development of work practices that ensure appropriate occupational health and safety standards are maintained.
  • Manage procedures relating to employee relations issues.
  • Assist in the development of human resource planning.
  • RTW/Workcover/TAC Coordinator.

Pakenham Secondary College is a Year 7-12 College located within the Cardinia Shire on Melbourne¿s South East fringe. The school now serves a large and diverse community within a designated urban growth corridor.

The curriculum across Years 7 and 8 is based around a core plus elective model. Students in Years 9 and 10 combine their core subjects with more elective choices in areas of interest to them. Year 10 students also have the opportunity to access a VET or VCE subject. Senior students are able to access the VCE (including the Vocational Major) and a variety of VET courses and School Based Apprenticeships. The school is committed to supporting students in achieving at least one qualification upon the completion of their Secondary Education.

The school¿s Strategic Plan is focussed on improving student achievement, growth, engagement and well-being with the key focus areas and Key Improvement Strategies outlined below:

· Maximise student learning in literacy and numeracy:

o Develop, implement and embed a whole-school approach to formative and summative assessment.

o Build capability of staff to capture, analyse and utilise assessment and data to evaluate the impact of instructional strategies and determine the next stage of instruction for differentiated student learning.

o Strengthen the partnership between staff, students, carers, and families to create a shared responsibility for student wellbeing

The College has recently received $11.3 million in funding as part of a Capitol Works Program with works schedule to commence in 2024.

Our College has also further developed its International Student Program. We view our International Students Program as a further means of adding to our already rich Cultural diversity at the College.
