ABOUT THE ROLE: Looking for a Buyer to purchase products that are essential for our company’s day-to-day operations. You will quote and review prices, place orders, expedite deliveries and ensure optimal stock levels are maintained.

For this role, you will need good technical knowledge and understanding of drawings and heavy vehicle parts, and solid analytical skills to make sure you’re identifying the most profitable offers.

Ultimately, you’ll create and maintain good relationships with key suppliers to ensure products are delivered on time at the right price with the required quality level.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Control the purchasing of supplied products including quoting, ordering, expediting, supplier development, auditing and quality control.
  • Identify various cost elements of the existing products and be able to implement cost reductions by process improvement, minimal design change, supplier development, benchmarking/ building “cost model” to justify supplier’s price.
  • Develop and implement strategies, processes and procedures that achieve the company’s short- and long-term expectations regarding suppliers’ delivery, cost, quality, Innovation/Technology, delivery and continuous improvement
  • Work closely with Engineering, Production and purchasing team to implement improvements.
  • Actively involved in meetings with cross functional teams on cost saving projects
  • Negotiate price reductions
  • Maintain complete and accurate records
  • Communicate and enforce quality requirements with vendors
  • Be able to read drawings and review part issues when called upon by production

QUALIFICATION AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Min 5 years’ experience within a manufacturing environment
  • Background in purchasing processes including cost reduction and process improvement initiatives with demonstrated competence in negotiating.
  • Must be highly effective at communicating with customers and suppliers
  • Valid driver’s license
  • Computer skills in advanced Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Epicor ERP System is an asset

This position also requires the applicant to undertake a pre-employment medical which includes a drug and alcohol analysis, musculoskeletal evaluation and hearing test
